Rotaract and Interact

The Buckhead Rotary Club sponsors two active Rotaract Clubs -- North Atlanta and Oglethorpe University -- as well as a new Interact club at North Atlanta High School. Activities included an apple polishing/teacher appreciation day at North Atlanta, a joint WAPI (Water Pasteurization Indicator) project with Oglethorpe Rotaract, books for African project, Gear For Goals Collection, and sponsorship of an AIDS/HT Assembly at the North Atlanta Parent University.

There were a record number of attendees scheduled to go to the Interact Conference, and we are pleased with the participation of new Buckhead Rotarians with this Interact Club.

North Atlanta Rotaract will soon begin to restore the playground at the Fray Julian Garcia kindergarten in Puebla, Mexico. We will ensure that the playground is safe and create a fun and wholesome environment for the students.

During our visit, we will also organize a university tour for middle school students which will hopefully encourage them to continue their education after high school.

Oglethorpe University Rotaract Centro de Maya Project:

Supports children with disabilities who attend public schools by paying tuition and school expenses and providing an education aide when needed. Each January, at the start of the school year, children receive a tuition voucher for the school of their choice, backpack, school outfit, and supplies, at a cost of about $125 per scholar. Last year we raised enough funds to pay for 20 kids.
