In October, the City of Milton opened a new multi-sport public park. Because of the uncertain timing of the completion of the park, Milton had not yet nailed down a professional concessions contract. The city asked if our club would be able to provide concession services until the professional contract began and we agreed to run the concessions for two weekends in October.
Our club decided to split the profits from our two weekends of work between the District's South Carolina flood relief efforts and a charity that provides care packages to U.S. troops serving overseas, Forgotten Soldiers Outreach.
Our first scheduled weekend was very rainy and most of the scheduled games were cancelled so we raised very little money. However we managed our food expenses pretty well given the conditions so we didn't lose money.
The next Saturday we generated a net profit of about $600. We also generated a great deal of public awareness of our community activities.
